Friendly vs Birstall

In what was the first, final and only warm up match for the season Great Glen CC recorded an impressive victory over Birstall Village CC. With the visitors batting first they made an impressive start, racing to 60 inside 10 overs. However the first wicket of the season fell to a new combination for the club; caught Jim Hill, bowled Keith Spray. Following that wicket the scoring slowed, and despite a brief cameo from their Australian they were bowled out for 136. A much improved fielding performance (compared to many last season) saw only one real catch dropped, typically by me!

Great Glen’s innings got off to a solid start by Bob Lee and Darren John, Lee ending up retiring 50 n.o. Useful knocks by John, Bennett and Wilson steering Great Glen home to a 6 wicket victory.
