Curry Night

All

I have arranged a Curry Night at Swatlands Indian Restaurant in Oadby on Friday 17 April 2009.

I have booked the upstairs room and the evening will commence at 7.30pm.

The evening will be in the form of a hot buffet and there will be some Starters followed by a choice of 4 Main Courses.

This is a social event and should be a great night, a chance to have a few beers and a chat the night before the first game of the season – a friendly against Birstall at Home – and raise a few quid for the Club at the same time, the cost is £12.

Please let me know ASAP if you’d like to come along either by eMail or phone, and it would also be good if you could let me know if you are a “No”.

Thanks
Tim Odams

2009

Well we’re fast approaching the start of the 2009 season. Only 2 more weeks of nets (Wednesday Evenings 8-9, Leicester Grammar School, Great Glen) remaining. Fixtures for the new season are up.

New features have been added to the website, the batting and bowling honours list is up (Sorry, couldn’t fit any more of the awards onto the page). Also there is a new forum, very easy to use, just sign up to post away. Hopefully it will become quite busy once the season is underway! Another new addition is a photo’s section. Not a lot on there at the moment, but check back every now and then as i hope to get more added. Will be some from the Annual dinner, nets and some cracking action shots (or embarrassing ones) from the season. Finally is a Calendar including dates for Diary such as the annual dinner, quiz and curry nights, also any other announcements.

It’s been great to see lots of new faces at nets over the winter, welcome to the club everyone, even if others have been seen less frequently, myself included, oops! Anyway, here’s looking to a succesful season on and off the field, GO MALLARDS!!!!!

Regards Collis

P.S. An early reminder to everyone re subs. Get in early for a discounted price. Subs this year are £30 for Adults and £25 for Students. However if you pay before 1st June 2009 you save £10, making it £20 for Adults and £15 for Students

BBQ

2nd August weekend sees both teams playing Westonians and with the recent improvement in weather and close proximity of the opposition we saw it as the prime opportunity to light up a BBQ and eat the corpses of dead animals. Obviously these animals have been cleaned to a degree that merits eating them. There is information on Facebook (follow the link on this page).

However if you do not have Facebook, which you should as there are more updates available on it, as well as pictures and a forum, turn up around 7 so you can see a little bit of cricket then come and eat after. Bring your own food, and your wallets; drinks purchased at the “bar” help to keep the Sports and Social club alive.

Keep it real and wear sun cream.

Cricket de Agua

Rich Wilson in his match report debut! Rather epic writing I think. On a saturday of cricket played in Scottish conditions, i.e. Rain; there was mixed fortune for the two teams. There was also three displays of individual quality, with one in paticular in the Napier category of
things.

Sorry!

Rich Wilson did purchase a jug; an example to us all…SNASH & TIM!

This week the first team are at home to Stoke Golding whilst the second team are away to Stoke Golding; it is lucky that Vinny is not playing this week otherwise I am sure he would have ended up watching King Lear in Stoke on Trent.

Also, involving Rich again, there may well be two new pages on this website. The much anticipated Statistics page and perhaps a Stat of the week feature controlled by the aforementioned.

Finally, Great Glen play Leicester Grammar in what is in someways a local clash, so if you are around on Thursday, please inform someone who looks like a shaggy dog. I.e. Daniel Gee or Robert Lee!

In other news I have had a hair cut.
